Everything had returned to normal since my last experience and a end of year camp trip was planned. We were really excited to travel to eastern Oregon and fish the three mile.
We ended up camping at two different campsites along the river and it was at the second location on the last day that we encountered those footsteps again.
It was a normal day, and our third night at our current campsite. We had gotten to know another family during our stay and spent most of the day together, talking and swimming and cooling off in the rec room. After an evening swim we told our new friends to come by our tent later that night since it was our last night there.
The sun had set, the stars were bright, much brighter than back at home. Completely lost in conversation and letting the time slip past us, we began to hear footsteps. They were pretty far away from the tent, so at first we payed it not mind, but as we continued on we noticed it began coming closer. That was when we thought it was our friends, but as the steps grew closer an eerie silence fell. The energy was ominous, and something screamed inside my head to run, so I unzipped the tent as fast as I could and grabbed my friend by the hand. We ran full spread across the campsite and into the woman's bathroom.
There was gravel outside the bathroom door, we listened. Then the footsteps began again, pacing, back and forth, steadily, like a cat waiting to pounce I couldn't take it anymore. I don't remember if there was a lock on the entry door from the inside, but I do remember telling my friend, to get in one of the furthest away stalls and hide. Gathering up as much courage as I could, I walked back to the main door, swung it open fast and hard screaming "what do you want!"
Looking outside the bathroom door there stood nothing but trees, no person, no animal and the footsteps where gone. I closed the bathroom door once more and decided to wait a little longer, to see if whatever could have been out there, would return, but it never did. My friend and I decided to wait about ten minuets before walking normally back to our tent and trying our best to go to sleep for the night.
Day break finally came and I woke up to the sound of the wind through the tree that stood near by, we had finally made it I thought. So we got up, gathered our toiletries and headed off to the restroom to get ready for the day. This was when I was stopped right in my tracks.
Standing before the set of bathrooms, stood a gravel lot an empty gravel lot. No tree's, no forest like I had seen the night before upon swinging the door open to confront our mystery walker.
To this day it baffles me what all of that could have been. A time slip? my imagination? sleepy hallucinations? Who knows.
When I was young, I had my best friend stay for a sleep over. As I mentioned in the previous entry, our night sky was perfect for star gazing. So we set up our lawn chairs, brought out some snacks and decided to wait until nightfall. Now let me say, this was nothing that I really feared doing and I know the following was no act of my imagination.
The blue hour came and we were both still talking away, that was when I heard it. Behind our lawn chairs set my parents very large rock garden, there were small stepping stones within the rocks they had spent years finding and gathering. Now let me say, footsteps sound much different than in gravel or river rock, these rocks make more of a scrape and tink sound. That was exactly what we heard but it sounded like multiple feet walking all around behind us. We froze, stared at each other, to afraid to turn around looking behind one another, seeing nothing.
Finally we were able to break our scared trance and run, we ran up the hill to the front of the house, since the back door was locked, slammed through the front door and made a mad dash for my bedroom on the top floor, where we shut the door and just sat for a minuet.
Neither of us could figure out at all what in the world had just happened, all we knew was that we left the lawn chairs and snacks outside but honestly we didn't care and had no plans on going back out until high noon the following day.
Once the dust had settled and we were laying on my bed talking about school and other every day things, my friend became startled and buried her head in one of the pillows. It was the strangest behavior and it took me quite a good bit to get her to talk to me.
When she removed the pillow from her face she was in tears and obviously afraid, this was very out of character for her as she did not normally cry or really even get scared. However she was finally able to tell me that she saw a hand in my bedroom window, slowly wave at her, one finger at a time.
I immediately looked to the window and saw nothing, so I rushed over and pulled my blinds and then my curtains. Now let me say as well, this was a two story house, we were on the top floor, no one could reach my window without a ladder.
It had been quite the eventful evening and we had really hoped that our excitement was over, little did we know we would have another similar experience a short time later that same summer.
Growing up out in the country our light pollution was about 2-3 on the bortle scale, so sky watching was done almost nightly, with so much to see. I remember vividly a couple very interesting observations I made starring out my bedroom window as a kid, when I was supposed to be going to sleep.
My father had taught me the difference between stars and planets; satellites versus planes and my grandfather the constellations. I still hope to this day, that I will one day be able to get a telescope as the night sky has always fascinated me.
One evening after the sun had set and it seemed that it was as dark as it could get, something caught my eye. A light that blinked ever so slightly, slowly moving to its right, I watched it travel slowly and then it just stopped. I was not sure what to think of it, maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. So I went to bed and the very next night I looked out to where I had seen the object the night before, only this time it was moving to the left, which I found really odd, so I watched it as long as I could but began to feel uneasy so I decided to shut my curtains and go to bed.
It was on the third night that my mind was blown, curious to see what the object would be doing again I looked out my window, there it was, only this time it traveled diagonally down to the right and the shot off, up and to the right never to be seen again. It left me with a feeling, like it was never even there, it was just gone so fast, I had never seen anything like it.
I could not help but feel on that third night, the creepy feeling return. It felt as if I was being observed as I was observing it. Now maybe this is just a child's imagination and not understanding what it was I was experiencing but it has stuck with me all these years.
There was also a second time that I was observing the sky, in the same spot out my bedroom window, that I saw one more odd object. I should mention that with the first observation, the light was red but in this second observation the light was a white-blue. Unfortunately I don't have to much to say about it, other than it traveled in a Z type shape, around the same part of the sky and then just disappeared, it did not fly off, it was as if its light just went out.
I had to have been around 10 or 12 at the times of these events, so it is hard for me to remember where the constellations where located on that side of the house and to the best of my ability I believe it was around the end of summer, right before school was to start.
I have a couple closure encounters however, that I will share in an upcoming entry, that hopefully one day I can find answers too, as I have always been scared of it happening again.
One of my earliest memories, I had to have been around two or three years old. I was at a babysitters in the living room staring out a large patio door, overlooking miles of farmland and a large lake.
As I sat there, silently, I remember thinking "I have been here before, in this human experience." I knew what reincarnation was, even though technically I shouldn't, as these were pretty intense thoughts for a toddler.
I have many memories of my past lives, now as an adult. Through dreams and guided meditations is how I was able to attain these memories.
In one life, I was a German soldier. It was during the war and I was checking an apartment, I entered the apartment thinking it was empty but I was shot in the back by a fellow soldier. There was a round table in the middle of the room that I remember crawling under, thinking I will just pretend that I am dead, but I did indeed die.
In another life, I was a wife in Sweden with 7 children and in another I was a Shaman in a tribe, but I am not sure from where. There have been many things I have worked through energetically as our karma follows us through our lifetimes and as I continue this journey I know that more lives will be revealed.
If you have ever been interested in learning about your past lives there is a meditation you can do, google The Hall Of Akashic Records and there is a lot of information that comes up. I am sure as well, that I will come back and share any new lives that I end up discovering.
I remember being in the school library one day, searching for anything scary. Surprisingly they had a good selection, I just wish I could remember some of the names of the books that had me so enthralled back than. I do remember a series of books called Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, those were always good (they just weren't the encounter type books that I was hoping to find) and if you have never read them, you need to check those out as soon as your finished here.
That day in the library, I actually came across a book of spells, how that one slipped by school staff I don't know. Of course the book was a hot cake within my circle of friends. It ended up that one of my friends was mad at the librarian though, so she left a knotted chord on top of the window above the reading section. Later that day a kid from school slashed the tires of a vehicle he thought belonged to a rival student but ended up being the tires of the librarian's vehicle. I was surprised as well to find out, through retelling this story that many other people have had similar experiences happen at their school, where they found a book of witchcraft, tried it and had some startling results.
I would love for our readers to become more interactive! Please let us know in the comments below if you ever had something like this happen when you were young and remember as stated in the blog previous, always be careful what games you play and what you wish for, because you never know what could come true.
I will never forget the first time I saw one of those black hooded figures. I think I was about 14 or so, I would see these shadow forms from the corner of my eye. A loud image would follow in my mind almost immediately, of a human shaped being in a hooded cloak.
They always felt evil but luckily would never cross that barrier that I must have created in the hallway, right before my bedroom door. They felt old and mostly resided in the basement away from everyone, only coming up to the top floor when I was home alone.
By the time I was 15 I was finally allowed to stay home by myself but I never wanted to, so I would stay at my neighbors until my parents came home. It was just to frightening otherwise.
For awhile I thought I could just be imagining things, that I was allowing my fear to get the better of me. This would be quickly dispelled however when I had three different spiritually oriented individuals come to our house, who felt the same thing, before I ever told them what I had saw.
There were multiple times that we actually cleared the house energetically/ spiritually. The first time was due to my Ouija board use or rather Ouija board making.
Foolishly I thought nothing of these boards. As far as my teenage self was aware, it was just a talking board capable of talking to whatever spirit might be in the room. I never considered it being a portal or doorway that would allow for something more sinister to come through. I remember my friend and I both had our hands on the planchette and it began to move in an almost figure eight. I remember feeling very sleepy and cold, at one point it was almost like I woke up, that was when my friends parents where there to get her however. So we got up, said our goodbyes and I returned to my room to just throw everything away, thinking nothing more of what we had just been doing. The following weeks would show me however just how wrong I was.
It was fall by this time and a couple days had passed since my friend had been over. I had started to notice that each night I was becoming a little more unsettled. Honestly as embarrassing as this is to admit I had to sleep with a nightlight on and to be even more honest sometimes, to this day, I still do.
I began to feel like there was a presence in the room with me, as if I was being watched. This was new for me and had not happened as I had always felt there was a barrier before that kept anything spooky, out. This feeling slowly grew over a period of three days. It was on the fourth night when, I had went to brush my teeth, I heard a voice whisper directly in my ear "Jennifer". Frightened I quickly ran and jumped in bed. That night was the most difficult night of all.
I laid there for most of the night motionless, terrified and barely breathing as this heavy energy grew. Something was next to my bed and an actual hand grabbed my right leg, holding it there. I felt pinned and at some point actually fell asleep, how I even managed to do that, I still don't know.
The next morning I decided to tell my parents what I had done with the Ouija board and what I had been experiencing at night. We decided to bring someone from the church to bless the grounds and I actually went to a youth group meeting at a church down the street before going home after school that next day. Now I will clarify here that I am spiritual and later on in this blog I will also be mentioning other ways to practice house cleansing and sharing a cleansing I performed on a friends house 5 years after this happened.
When I got into bed that night, the air was breathable once more and I was able to lay comfortably in my bed. The safe feeling had returned that I once new, so I snuggled in my bed and rolled over to face my window. My bed sat in the middle of the room, my door on my right side, my window on my left. I had a tv in my room directly in front of me and my nightlight was next to my door on the right side of my room.
So as I lay, facing my window on the left side of my room, blinds completely shut I began to see a whiteish-blue light pulsating on my wall. I didn't think anything of it immediately but it did dawn on me that it was getting kind of bright, I wondered if the light from my dads television down the hall, in the living room could be causing this pulsating of light in my room. So I sat up and began to turn, to face the right side of my room, when there at the foot of my bed was the most blinding ball of white light. I was stunned and frozen but somehow was able to break this sense of hypnotism and reached out toward this pulsating light. However, as soon as I moved it disappeared like it was never there in the first place. All I was left with, was this over whelming sense of peace that I have never felt before or since that night.
Just in case your wondering as well, nothing ever came in my room again after that.
"From childhoods hour I have not been as others were;
I have not saw as others saw" -Alone by Edgar Allen Poe
I started reading Poe when I was around twelve and was able to recite The Raven and Tell Tale Heart by the time I was fifteen. I always felt different since I was very small, as my world was vastly different from many others.
The world I have come to know, is full of monsters and things that most would consider fantasy or the workings of an over active imagination. However, it is those who bravely stand beside me, that come to learn the truth, that these things, are very, very real.
I had just moved from my crib to my big girl bed, I remember how vastly different it felt. Large and less...safe. I remember for many years laying in my bed looking out into the hallway after my parents had gone to sleep. I would hear footsteps and sometimes see a ghostly hand gripping the corner of the wall. Luckily this is where it would stop, it was as if I was able to create some type of barrier that allowed me to stay safe in my room.
I was also plagued with extremely real dreams, one in fact was so real that I was laying in bed when something was lurking around me. It didn't want to be seen directly, so it would hide each time I turned my head. After this went on for such a long time I decided to lay down and fall asleep, but just before falling asleep this entity touched me, right above my right hip on my lower back. This caused me to immediately wake up and look around the room. My parents where asleep and I was completely alone. It ended up having such an intense effect on me, that to this day I cannot sleep without a pillow to cover that spot on my back and sometimes, that spot starts to twitch really bad when someone is going to walk up behind me before I can hear them. Just thinking about it now, I can feel it, as if it just happened...
It is late though and in my regular fashion I don't normally sleep at night, maybe I am part vampire haha. However, I don't want to share to much at this hour, I am not up for late night visitors, but I thought I would give you all a smallish introduction.
Welcome, I hope you find your time here peaceful, thought provoking and a little unnerving. It has been my personal experience, that whenever I open myself up to the paranormal and supernatural; be it reading articles, listening to Podcasts or watching a new documentary I find that it tends to open a door and the experiences begin.
These experiences, thoughts on all spooky subjects and other stories I just have to share will all be placed here. I encourage you to read, research and share.
However, I must state, that I am not responsible for whatever door opens for you....
